Job summary

Tek Express - A Tech24 Company is seeking a Foodservice Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial cooking equipment in Newark, NJ and surrounding areas. You will perform preventative maintenance, document service activities, and communicate timelines to customers.

Expect weekly pay, company vehicle and full benefits. This role requires driving, lifting 50+ lbs, and willingness to participate in on-call rotations. Tech24 offers training opportunities and 401(k) with match.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial cooking equipment repair experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Strong gas and/or electric troubleshooting experience.
• Solid understanding of mechanical systems and electrical components.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work in varying indoor and outdoor conditions.
• Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and crawl in tight quarters.
• Must own industry-standard hand tools.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation as needed.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial cooking equipment, including ovens, fryers, steamers, griddles, and warmers.
• Perform preventative maintenance to ensure safe and efficient equipment operation.
• Test components and verify proper operation after repairs.
• Accurately document service calls, parts used, labor hours, and customer interactions in the company system.
• Clearly communicate repair status, recommendations, and timelines to customers.
• Manage truck inventory to ensure proper parts and tools are stocked.
• Respond to service calls in a timely and professional manner.
• Represent the company professionally while delivering high-quality customer service.
• Follow all safety regulations and company policies.
• Participate in ongoing technical training and professional development opportunities.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation as assigned.

Compensation Transparency

The advertised pay range for this position is $30-$40 per hour. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience level, technical certifications, skill set, and overall qualifications. Candidates with advanced expertise in commercial hot-side equipment may be considered toward the higher end of the range.
