Job summary

A prominent food technology company is seeking a Food Laboratory Technician in Plainsboro Township, NJ. The candidate will perform taste tests and assist in product development with a focus on sweet goods and beverages. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in food science or related field and strong organizational and mathematical skills. The pay rate for this position is $25.00/hr.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in flavor applications or food product development is a plus.
• Proficient in mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions.
• Knowledge of commercial food or beverage processing and sensory testing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Taste test applications that include allergens and alcoholic beverages.
• Manage multiple projects on a deadline basis.
• Prepare production of bench top and pilot lab prototypes.

Job Description

Job Title: Food Laboratory Technician

Pay Rate: $25.00/hr. on W2 (all inclusive)

Duration: 6+ Months Contract Possibility to extend

Hours – Mon – Fri 8:30-4:45. Friday early release

Cafeteria onsite

Candidate must be able to Taste test applications that include allergens and alcoholic beverages.

Prefer candidates at or over legal age

NO PHYSICAL FIT TESTING REQUIRED

Education: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, food science, food technology or related Asking 1-2 yrs of Flavor applications or food product development experience

Skills: Organization Skills the ability to work individually and with the team. Strong Math skills required (converting recipes to grams and percentages)

Knowledge of Commercial food & Beverage processing

• Reports to NAM Senior Portfolio/Collection Manager

• Works independently and manages multiple projects - both short term and ongoing - on a deadline basis

• Responsible for Sweet Goods and Beverage applications preparation/ production of bench top and pilot lab prototypes

• Ability to make a variety of relevant Sweet Goods and Beverages prototypes throughout the evaluation process

• Maintain current applications formulations, raw materials and quality specifications using current computer systems

• Application of flavors and evaluation in various Sweet Goods and Beverage products

• Maintains and applies good laboratory practices Profile:

• Bachelor Degree in Chemistry/Food Science/Food Technology or related science is required

• 1-2 years of experience in flavor applications or food product development is a plus

• Proficient in mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations

• Knowledge of commercial food or beverage processing, sensory testing, and use of functional ingredients is a plus

• Strong communication, computer and organizational skills

• Ability to work as a part of a team and individually with minimal oversight

• Proficient in MS Office with fluency in English language - both written and verbal
