Job summary

Peabody Public Schools seeks on-call cafeteria substitutes for 3-hour shifts (approx. 10 am–1:30 pm). Immediate start. Duties include food preparation, serving, maintaining sanitary conditions, and operating basic kitchen equipment.

Requires a high school diploma or GED; background check and legal status verification may be required. Bilingualism is desirable but not required. Position is on-call with no holiday or summer work.

Responsibilities

• Cleans tables and other kitchen equipment; washes and stores dishes and utensils.
• Sweeps floors, cleans counters, tables and kitchen equipment; stores foods properly in refrigerators and storeroom.
• Works as a member of a cafeteria staff and assists as assigned by the Head Cook.
• Bilingualism is a highly desired skill for a position, but not a requirement.

Day-to-day Food Svc/ Cafeteria Substitutes (On Call-3 hour days)- work day-to- day assignments or reassignmentsto fill positions due to the absence of the regularly assigned staff. On call position with approximate hours of 10 am to 1:30 pm, No work on holidays or the school summer break.

Hourly pay rate: $20.00

Minimum Qualifications:

Statement of Duties :

• Performs tasks requiring an ordinary degree of skill in preparation and serving of food as well as other tasks required for the operation and sanitary maintenance of a food service facility or area
• Operates electrical equipment such as mixers, potato peelers, slicing machines, dishwashers, and toasters.
• Cleans tables and other kitchen equipment.
• Collects and washes dishes, silver and cooling utensils, and puts them away.
• Sweeps floor, cleans counters and tables and counter and kitchen equipment, such as food containers, trays, cooking ranges, garbage cans, and refrigerators of food and other supplies. • Stores foods properly in refrigerators and storeroom.
• Works as a member of a cafeteria staff team. Responsible for other general duties as assigned by the School Cafeteria Head Cook
• Bilingualism is a highly desired skill for a position, but not a requirement

Qualifications :

Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities

• Must be a positive contributor as a team player
• Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal alien status.
