Are you passionate about helping others and ready to lead in a mission-driven environment? NEAR Food Shelf, a respected nonprofit serving the northwest metro, is looking for a dedicated Food Shelf Supervisor to join our team in Crystal, Minnesota.

We provide essential support to individuals and families facing food insecurity, and we’re proud to serve a diverse community with empathy, dignity, and respect. Our programs include daily food distribution, holiday assistance, back-to-school support, and more—powered by a committed network of volunteers, donors, and community partners.

As our Food Shelf Supervisor, you’ll be at the heart of daily operations, ensuring that clients are served efficiently and with compassion. You'll oversee food shelf logistics, manage volunteers, coordinate with vendors, and help implement programs that go beyond basic needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily food shelf operations, including food distribution and donation intake
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment
  • Manage volunteer recruitment, training, and scheduling
  • Build strong relationships with clients, volunteers, donors, and community partners
  • Track inventory, process food orders, and coordinate vendor deliveries
  • Support seasonal initiatives such as school supplies and holiday gift drives
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold NEAR’s high standards of service
  • Report to the Food Shelf Director and collaborate with the broader team on agency success
  • Provide backup coverage and cross-department support as needed

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong leadership and people-management skills
  • Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced setting
  • Prior supervisory or volunteer management experience is a plus
  • Computer proficiency and familiarity with email, spreadsheets, and inventory tracking
  • Bilingual (English required; Spanish, helpful but not required)
  • Comfortable lifting up to 25 lbs. and engaging in hands-on warehouse work
  • A team player committed to equity, respect, and community service

What We Offer:

  • Salary: $42,000–$45,000/year (based on qualifications)
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM with occasional evenings/weekends
  • Paid Time Off: 2 weeks (80 hours) plus paid holidays
  • Health Reimbursement: $250/month after the first full calendar month
  • A mission-focused, collaborative, and supportive workplace culture
