Job summary

The Wyoming Department of Corrections invites applications for a Food Services Supervisor at WMCI. You will oversee inmate workers and staff, manage food preparation, maintenance, safety, and sanitation, and train inmates in job skills for re-entry into the community.

Qualifications

General Description

Come join the Wyoming Department of Corrections. The Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution is currently seeking a Food Services Supervisor. This position will oversee inmate workers and staff in the preparation and processing of food, and the maintenance, safety, and sanitation of the food service, and teach inmates job skills to help prepare them for re-entry into the community. The Wyoming Department of Corrections is committed to public safety and high correctional standards, as well as a safe, supportive working environment for our employees.

The Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution (WMCI) is designed to serve as the main intake and assessment center for male inmates. It serves as a primary education and treatment center for inmates requiring high levels of protective custody and medical, mental health, dental, substance abuse, life skills, cognitive/behavioral, and/or sex offender treatment services.

Essential Functions

• Trains and supervises a staff of Food Service Specialists to ensure large-scale food production on a given shift.
• Schedules food service staff, supervises, and directs the work of subordinate staff.
• Assures compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Assists with menu and recipe development; provides nutritious menus, diabetic diets, and other medical and religious diets as required.
• Analyzes recipes/menus to meet the USDA guidelines for nutrition.
• Develops and maintains institutional food service policies and procedures.
• Responsible for overall maintenance, security, sanitation, and cleanliness of the facility.
• Responsible for safety and sanitation training of workers under their supervision and documentation of this training.
• Responsible for timekeeping and refrigeration logs, sanitation records, and production schedules.
• Responsible for ensuring a safe and enjoyable workplace, including participation in initiatives designed to promote a positive work environment

Preferences

Preference will be given to those with at least two (2) years of supervisory experience, two (2) years of food service experience, as well as two (2) years in a correctional facility

Knowledge

• Knowledge of supervisory methods.
• Knowledge of budget andprocurement practicesand policies.

Education & Experience Substitution:

Physical Working Conditions

• Because a correctional institution is a controlled environment, inmates will often attempt to disrupt that environment. The kitchen staff has to be physically able to perform various manual labor job duties.
