The State of Wyoming seeks a Food Services Specialist to support the large-scale preparation of 500+ meals daily in a hospital setting, working with a collaborative team to follow standardized recipes and safety standards.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of progressive work experience in Food Services at the level of a Food Services Assistant
• Associate's Degree (typically in Culinary Arts)

Responsibilities

• Directs, coordinates, prepares and supervises the preparation of food for meals within menu, dietary, appearance, taste, temperature, and sanitation standards.
• Trains workers in safety and sanitation.
• Prepares religious and medically necessary diets and substitutions as needed.
• Directs portioning and serving of all meals.
• Oversees distribution of bulk food and pre-plated meals.
• Ensures daily health guidelines are met in food prep.
• Manages inventory and reviews daily items.
• Completes daily inventories of knives, controlled food items and tools.
• Observes and records temperatures of food, refrigerator, and freezer.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• With the assistance of the Food Services Assistant, directs, coordinates, prepares and supervises the preparation of food for meals within the guidelines of the menu, dietary requirements, and the standards of appearance, taste, temperature, and sanitation.
• Trains workers in safety and sanitation.
• Prepares all religious and medically necessary diets and substitutions as needed.
• Directs the portioning and serving of all meals.
• Oversees distribution of bulk food and pre-plated meals.
• Ensures that health guidelines are met in the daily preparation of food.
• Manages inventory and reviews on a daily basis on all items.
• Completes daily inventories of knives, controlled food items and tools.
• Observes and records food, refrigerator, and freezer temperatures.

KNOWLEDGE:

• Knowledge of kitchens and warehouses.
• Knowledge of food service equipment operation.
• Knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations and universal knowledge of inventory tracking.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience Substitution:

2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Food Services) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Food Services Assistant

Experience:

0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Food Services) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Food Services Assistant

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Ability to lift, carry, and push 50 pounds.
• Will be required to drive a delivery truck.
• Work evenings and weekends

NOTES:

• FLSA: Non-Exempt
