Job description

Responsibilities

• Perform various food service assignments related to the serving of food to patients, staff, visitors, and guests on a rotating basis
• Set up food and service areas, assist in food preparation, serve, deliver food, and maintain cleanliness of area and equipment
• Perform cleaning and sanitation tasks including dish and pot washing, sweeping, mopping, assisting with putting away deliveries, floor cleaning, and overall kitchen sanitation

Requirements & Qualifications

• Demonstrate ability to read, write, and speak English well enough to follow verbal and written instructions and to count
• Basic knowledge of food service practices and procedures (e.g., portion control, short order cooking, and sanitation) and operation of equipment
• Previous experience in a food services related position strongly preferred
• Depending on specific assignment, require possession of a valid driver's license and compliance with Sheppard Pratt requirements to operate a hospital vehicle at time of appointment and through duration of employment
• Work requires almost constant standing, walking, and lifting of trays and dishes weighing under 10 pounds
