Job summary

ServiceSource, Inc. is hiring a Food Service Worker (Cafeteria Worker) in Washington, DC. This part-time role involves preparing and serving a variety of foods, greeting customers, taking orders, and assisting in displays and set-up for service counters.

The position requires no formal education, although a high school diploma or GED is preferred and one year of food service experience is advantageous. Weekend/holiday availability is expected.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Set up food on self-serving lines and portion food for individual servings in accordance with instructions.
  • Refill cold bars, salad bars, pastry cabinets, condiments, juice dispensers, and set up dining rooms.
  • Replace glassware, dishes and silverware and refill condiment containers. Wipe and wash tables and countertops.
  • Clean work area, utensils and equipment; remove garbage; mop floors, walls, windows and tables.
  • Remove dirty dishes, glasses and silverware from serving counters. Mix washing solutions and operate electric dish washing machine and wash dishes, glassware, pots and pans and kitchen utensils by hand.

Pay: $18.40/hour plus an additional $5.09/hour for Health & Welfare.

Schedule: This is a part-time position. Days and hours may vary. Weekend and holiday availability is a must.

Job Summary

The Food Service Worker (Cafeteria Worker) serves as a cafeteria and/or delicatessen/bakery worker helping in the preparation, presentation and serving of specialty meats, delicacies, preserved foods, cheeses, salads, breads and sweets to patrons. The incumbent assists in weighing, pricing and wrapping selected foods on plates, trays and in bags, prepares food displays in counter cases and other display units, greets customers as they arrive at service counter, takes special orders, and answers basic customer questions about specialty foods.

Primary Duties

Additional Responsibilities
  • Maintain in a sanitary condition equipment and work areas, utensils and tables.
  • Perform ware-washing, and keep pot and pan areas in order prior to, during and after meals.
  • Follow correct techniques, cleaning schedules and tasks.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
