Duties
- Performs routine manual tasks in a kitchen or dining area following established procedures. Prepares foods by sorting, washing, peeling, and cutting fresh fruit and vegetables.
- Sets up glasses, silverware, dishes, trays, napkins, condiments, and cold menu items such as salads, desserts, breads, and beverages on a serving line or tables. Clears dishes and trays after meals. Cleans tables and counters.
- Stores clean dishes, glasses, and silverware. Vacuums and shampoos carpets; sweeps and mops kitchen floors. Cleans windows and walls. Sanitizes trash cans and disposes of trash. Operates dishwashers.
- Operates, breaks down, and cleans all equipment assigned to food preparation areas. Cleans kitchen equipment such as worktables, sinks, and refrigerators. Separates food waste and trash from dishes, glasses, and silverware.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
- Meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements for this position.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Work hours may include weekdays, weekends, holidays, and nights.
- A Medical Examination is required; position involves continuous standing and walking, frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, and lifting/moving items up to 50 pounds.
- This position is dual compensation exempt; all GS and NAF employees, whether full-time or part-time, are eligible to apply.
Qualifications
Ability to understand and follow oral instructions and perform simple, easy-to-learn tasks.
Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge of basic food handling techniques, personal hygiene standards, and safe work procedures.
- Ability to perform routine manual tasks involving few steps and to read and understand written material.
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
