The University of Georgia seeks a Food Service Worker I for a partial year role. Responsibilities include food preparation, serving, and maintaining cleanliness in dining settings. Candidates should have a high school diploma and knowledge of safe food handling practices.
This position offers benefits and is a partial year role (9-11 months), from August 1st to May 10th annually. The selected candidate will sign a partial year agreement, with continued employment during designated leave periods without a break in service or change in hire date.
Position Overview: This is manual and semi-skilled work involving food service duties such as serving foods, cleaning facilities, and preparing serving line meals in dining hall or kitchen settings.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Contact HR for evaluation of other qualifications in lieu of minimums.
Preferred Qualifications: Completion of a department-sponsored food safety training within 6 months of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of safe food handling practices, food preparation methods, and ability to work in noisy, hot/cold environments with chemicals and cleaning equipment. Physical ability to move loads up to 50 lbs, perform repetitive motions, and work long hours standing.
