Join to apply for the FOOD SERVICE WORKER I (Partial Year) role at The University of Georgia

This position offers benefits and is a partial year role (9-11 months), from August 1st to May 10th annually. The selected candidate will sign a partial year agreement, with continued employment during designated leave periods without a break in service or change in hire date.

Position Overview: This is manual and semi-skilled work involving food service duties such as serving foods, cleaning facilities, and preparing serving line meals in dining hall or kitchen settings.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Contact HR for evaluation of other qualifications in lieu of minimums.

Preferred Qualifications: Completion of a department-sponsored food safety training within 6 months of hire.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of safe food handling practices, food preparation methods, and ability to work in noisy, hot/cold environments with chemicals and cleaning equipment. Physical ability to move loads up to 50 lbs, perform repetitive motions, and work long hours standing.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in food preparation, serving, cleaning, and washing dishes (30%)
  • Ensuring cleanliness and courteous service (30%)
  • Handling food service equipment (30%)
  • Performing related tasks as assigned (10%)

Additional Requirements: No driving, trust, financial control, or security access responsibilities. Background checks and possible drug testing are required.
