Job description

The University of Charleston is looking for an energetic and optimistic team member to fill the role of Food Service Worker.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

1. Prepare food for service using established procedures and recipes.
2. Prepare and set up food at an account and location.
3. Maintain clean, neat, and orderly areas.
4. Complete daily duties/tasks within the scheduled work shift.
5. Maintain a fast pace and ability to multitask when performing duties.
6. Assist in the preparation of hot and/or cold foods, and properly store food, utilizing knowledge of temperature requirements and spoilage.
7. Set up stations with entrées, soups, salads, breads, condiments, other food products, and utensils.
8. Interact with guests in the serving, retail, and dining areas.
9. Follow proper guest service procedures whenever interacting with others by smiling, making eye contact, and greeting guests.
10. Clean and sanitize workstations and equipment following all client and regulatory rules and procedures.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Customer oriented.
2. Previous food service experience a plus.
3. Strong work ethic.
4. Excellent communication skills.
5. Must be a team player.
6. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds as necessary.
7. Willing to work nights/weekends/overtime as needed.
8. Excellent attendance.
