Job summary

Baptist Health System in San Antonio is seeking a PRN Food Service Worker to support patient meal preparation, tray assembly, and department operations. You will prepare patient trays, assist in retail and catering, and ensure sanitation and safety standards are followed in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Ideal candidates bring a high school diploma and at least 1 year of experience in patient-feeding food service, with certifications in food handling or management.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: able to read, write and understand English.
• Preferred: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred experience: 1 year in patient-feeding food service.
• Required certifications: ANSI Accredited Texas Food Handler or ANSI Accredited Food Manager or Certified Food Manager from the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties for patient tray preparation, retail sales and catering.
• Assembles patients’ trays.
• Chops, slices and peels food.
• Transports carts to and from the different units.
• Delivers trays and snacks to the patient.
• Transports food to other areas as needed.
• Washes pots and pans by hand and by machine.
• Cleans and sanitizes dishes.
• Operates, cleans and sanitizes necessary equipment.
• Sweeps and mops all areas of the department.
• Collects and disposes of trash.
• Stocks and cleans nourishment rooms/refrigerators as assigned.
• Adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations.
• Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively.
• Maintains safe work environment.
• Addresses patient population-specific needs.
• Participates in Performance Improvement activities.
