Job Description

The Food Service Worker at Turney Center Industrial Complex supervises inmates to ensure that meals and food items are prepared according to production plans. This role involves training workers, assigning and coordinating work to promote efficiency, and maintaining sanitation and safety standards. Responsibilities may vary by location based on client requirements and business needs.

Starting Pay: $17/hour

Job Responsibilities

1. Adhere to and maintain preparation and production guidelines according to Aramark standards, reviewing and approving logs.
2. Supervise inmates in food preparation and tray assembly.
3. Ensure timely and efficient meal service, meeting all guidelines.
4. Participate in meal preparation and serving.
5. Print and distribute recipes.
6. Train inmates in Aramark recipes and proper cooking procedures.
7. Ensure proper portions and dietary requirements are met.
8. Obtain and review daily population counts.
9. Follow security policies, ensuring storage areas are locked.
10. Secure all kitchen tools, equipment, and keys.
11. Determine work procedures, schedules, and sanitation routines, ensuring adherence.
12. Assist with inventory, receiving, storing, and requisitioning supplies.
13. Participate in meal assembly, storage, and food handling following HACCP policies.

Qualifications

• Must be over 18 years old.
• Preferred: 1+ year of food prep or related experience.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience with inmates is a plus.
• Ability to motivate and supervise inmates or team members.
• Must obtain a food safety certification.
• Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
• Follow safety procedures and policies.
• Qualify for and maintain correctional security clearance.

This role may involve physical activities like lifting, bending, and standing, and may require uniforms or PPE.
