Responsibilities

Most of the Time, You Will:

• Participate in food/beverage preparatory work (washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables and fruits; preparing salads and slicing cakes and pies; making coffee, tea, and other beverages).
• Prepare portions of food on trays or plates and pour beverages.
• Help with inventory counts and reception of deliveries.
• Prepare documentation such as preparation and inventory sheets, sanitation records, meal delivery records, etc.
• Assist in orientation and training for staff and detainee workers.
• Monitor and direct detainee workers in tray preparation, cleanup, sanitation, and related duties.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food service areas.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of food production experience in a commercial, military, or institutional setting preferred. Experience in corrections/detainee management or correctional food service training is a plus.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Willing to undergo a background check as required by U.S. Marshals.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, working with machinery, walking, standing, sitting.
• Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 60 lbs.
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures.
