Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a part-time Evening shift food service worker at our Bay Shore location. You will prepare and serve meals to patients, transport food and supplies, operate kitchen machines, and maintain a clean work area in a hospital cafeteria setting.

The role requires a high school diploma, reliable English communication, and prior experience in a healthcare or institutional food service environment. Evening shifts run from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or equivalent, required.
• Prior institutional experience, preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively; must understand and follow verbal instructions; must communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and serves food to patients as assigned.
• Transports food and supplies to designated areas within the Hospital or cafeteria.
• Operates machines used in the preparation of food or sanitation equipment and work area.
• Maintains cleanliness of the work area; refrigerates and labels perishable food; stores supplies orderly; sorts silverware and cleans equipment.
• May perform environmental service duties.

Job Description

Performs one or a number of tasks relating to the preparation and service of food; the delivery and collection of food and supplies, the appropriate operation of machinery, and the sanitation of specific areas of the department.

Job Responsibility

• * Prepares and serves food to patients as assigned.
  • Prepares and arranges food according to guidelines or tallies.
  • Handles food in accordance with sanitary regulations.
  • Serves food while accurately filling requests.
• * Transports food and supplies to designated areas within the Hospital or cafeteria.
  • Delivers food trays, nourishment, supplemental feedings and supplies in an orderly and timely fashion.
  • Collects used carts or trays and returns them to the kitchen.
  • Maintains a sufficient amount of each item to support needs.
• * Operates machines used in the preparation of food or sanitation equipment and work area.
  • Uses machines/equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Operates all utensils according to proper procedures.
• * Maintains cleanliness of the work area.
  • Mops floors, cleans equipment, utensils, work and service areas, using detergents and germicides required.
  • Refrigerates and labels perishable food.
  • Stores all supplies in an orderly fashion.
  • Sorts all silverware for washing and cleans, polishes stainless steel equipment.
• * May perform environmental service duties.
• Performs related duties as required.
