Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach is seeking a Nutrition and Food Services professional to support patient meals and dietary requirements.

You will ensure food safety, proper labeling, and preparation per the Diet Manual, while delivering high-quality, attractive service and assisting in training new staff.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience: Hospital food service experience preferred, but on-the-job training is provided.

• Labels and covers all food in refrigerators.
• Prepares food following dietary restrictions per the Diet Manual.
• Participates in patient food operations, serving meals safely and attractively.
• Takes immediate actions to correct problems in meal service.
• Maintains cleanliness of areas and utensils after meals.
• Flexible schedule to meet department demands.
• Demonstrates safety practices in the work area.
• Follows procedures in preparation, handling and service of food items.
• Assists in training of new Food Service Workers.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Description Summary

Position Responsibilities

• Adheres to all food safety guidelines when handling food.
• Ensures all food in refrigerators are labeled and covered.
• Ensures food preparation follows dietary restrictions (low sodium, low fat, diabetic, etc.) as set forth in the approve Diet Manual
• Participates in patient food operations; ensuring that services are performed following high standards of food safety and sanitation; serving food in a wholesome, palatable and attractive manner.
• Takes immediate actions to correct problems related to patient food operations or meal service delivery.
• Adheres to uniform policy for assigned areas.
• Cleans assigned areas, equipment and utensils at the end of each meal according to established procedures.
• Flexible with schedule to meet department demands.
• Demonstrates a clear understanding of safety in the work area by lifting correctly, wiping up spills, and using carts to transport items and other steps to avoid accidents.
• Follows appropriate procedures in the preparation, handling and service of food items.
• Assist in the training of new Food Service Workers and serve as a resource for problems and/or questions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
