This Food Service Worker position is located within the Nutrition & Food Service at the VA Medical Center in the Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (VHA). The primary purpose of the food service worker is to provide high-quality food service that meets all food safety requirements and to deliver the highest level of customer service.
Responsibilities include assisting in food preparation, serving, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards in accordance with VA policies.

Experience: No specific length of training and experience is required; however, you must demonstrate evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality to perform the duties of this position. This should be supported by detailed descriptions on your resume. Applicants will be rated according to the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.
Screen-out element: Your qualifications will be initially evaluated against the prescribed screen-out question, which is typically question 1 in the online questionnaire. Applicants meeting at least the minimum qualification will proceed for further review; those who do not will be rated ineligible and eliminated. Eligible applicants will then be rated against the remaining job elements:
Experience includes paid, unpaid, volunteer work through programs like Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, or other organizations, which build relevant skills and competencies. Volunteer work can provide valuable training and experience that translate directly to paid employment. Credit will be given for all qualifying experience, including volunteer work.
Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours per week. Part-time experience will be credited proportionally. Applicants must clearly specify the duties, responsibilities, and hours worked per week in each position to receive appropriate credit.
