The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking Food Service Workers for the Edward P. Boland VA Medical Center. The role involves performing various food service tasks, ensuring safety and reliability in a dynamic environment. These Food Service Worker positions are located within the Nutrition & Food Service at the Edward P. Boland VA Medical Center within VISN 1.

EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality to demonstrate your ability to perform the duties of this position. Evidence should be detailed and supported by your resume. Applicants will be rated according to the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.
SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will be initially evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, usually appearing as question 1 in the online questionnaire. Applicants meeting at least the minimum qualification will be considered further; those who do not will be eliminated from consideration.
The remaining candidates will then be rated based on the following Job Elements:
Experience includes paid, unpaid, and volunteer work (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps). Volunteer work can build relevant skills and provide valuable experience. All qualifying experience will be credited, including volunteer work.
Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours per week. Part-time experience will be credited proportionally. Clearly indicate duties, responsibilities, and hours worked in each position.
Food Service Workers perform light to moderate physical work, including heavy tasks like cleaning large utensils and moving heavy objects with assistance. The work involves standing, walking, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending. They may lift objects up to 20 pounds unassisted and over 40 pounds with help. Work environments may be hot, humid, noisy, and involve exposure to hot liquids, sharp blades, and temperature extremes when entering refrigeration units.
