Job summary

Montcalm Area Intermediate School District is seeking one part-time Food Service Worker to join the school cafeteria team. The position entails assisting with food preparation and serving, and cleaning kitchen equipment, under supervision, with hours 10:45 am to 2:15 pm, Monday through Friday.

Beginning immediately, duties include on-the-job training, handling standard equipment, and standing for long periods.

Qualifications

• High School or GED diploma required.
• Completion of the appropriate training programs required for the position.
• Experience in a supervisory or management capacity in a school or institutional food service setting and in the operation of a variety of commercial food service equipment required.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, performs routine duties involved in the preparation and serving of food and in the cleaning of kitchen equipment and facilities.
• May assume additional duties in the absence of the manager.
• On-the-job training in the basics of food preparation and cafeteria operation; sustained moderate physical effort and continuous standing.

Summary description

Under supervision, performs the more routine duties involved in the preparation and serving of food and in the cleaning of kitchen equipment and facilities. May assume additional duties in the absence of the manager. Food Service Workers receive on-the-job training in the basics of food preparation and cafeteria operation. Nature of work requires sustained moderate physical effort, operation of standard food service equipment, and continuous standing. The work is performed under the supervision of a cafeteria manager or other cafeteria employee.

Education, training, and experience

High School or GED diploma required. Completion of the appropriate training programs required for the position. Experience in a supervisory or management capacity in a school or other institutional food service setting and in the operation of a variety of commercial food service equipment required. Experience as a school cafeteria worker preferable.
