About This Position

The Food Service Worker accurately and efficiently prepares and serves a variety of food items according to work instructions and menus within a correctional setting. This role involves using various food preparation utensils and machines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and assist in the preparation of quality foods according to menus, recipes, and instructions in a timely manner.
• Maintain a clean and food-safe workstation, including cleaning, trash removal, sweeping, mopping, and other duties.
• Serve food during scheduled meal times following department policies.
• Use kitchen utensils and equipment to cook, prepare, and serve food, meeting clients’ nutritional needs.
• Follow all food safety regulations regarding sanitation, handling, and storage.
• Keep the work area clean, including refrigerators, freezers, and cooking/serving equipment.
• Perform routine kitchen tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Manage garbage and keep kitchen floors clean.
• This role involves physical activity such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods.
• Stand and be on your feet for much of your shift.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need

• Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent, and at least 18 years old.
• Preferred: Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience.
