Job summary

Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, MA is seeking a full-time Food Service Worker to support the main kitchen operations, including tray setup, portioning, stocking, and delivery of patient meals. You will assist in loading trays, delivering between-meal nourishments, and maintaining a clean, sanitary work area while following hospital safety and service standards.

Qualifications

• Ability to read English and comprehend and follow verbal and some written instructions.
• Ability to read and write at level three as documented on Invest, the hospital's Employee Learning Laboratory software.
• Communication skills are relevant to delivering patient trays and for all contacts in the hospital.

Responsibilities

• Passes menus to appropriate patients according to name and room number, and presents a positive image to the customer.
• Portions food for tray line.
• Stocks and restocks tray line stations with food supplies.
• Assists in loading trays onto meal trucks.
• Prepares and delivers patient between-meal nourishments for Mount Auburn Hospital and necessary tube feedings.
• Inventories par stock for designated nursing units.
• Delivers late trays to patients.
• Retrieves trays from patient care area.
• Cleans and sanitizes assigned work area.
• Scrapes dishes and loads dishes and trays into dishwasher.
• Resets tray line for next meal.
• Works to improve the total quality of the department and other departments.

Communication skills are relevant to delivering patient trays and for all contacts in the hospital.**Physical Requirements & Environment:** 1. Thirty-three percent of the time is spent in the dish room scraping trays. 2. Noise levels and steam cause high temperatures. 3. Damp or wet floors. 4. Long periods of time standing. **Pay Range:**$17.00 – $22.88The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time.
