Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a hospital food services teammate to perform a variety of duties in the main kitchen, including tray set up, delivery, and supporting patient meals.

The role involves portions, stocking, loading trays, delivering nourishments, sanitation, and ongoing quality improvement under supervision.

Qualifications

• Ability to read English and comprehend and follow verbal and some written instructions.
• Ability to read and write at level three as documented on Invest, the hospital's Employee Learning Laboratory software.
• Communication skills are relevant to delivering patient trays and for all contacts in the hospital.

Responsibilities

• Passes menus to appropriate patients according to name and room number, and presents a positive image to the customer.

• Stocks and restocks tray line stations with food supplies.
• Assists in loading trays onto meal trucks.
• Prepares and delivers patient between-meal nourishments for Mount Auburn Hospital and necessary tube feedings.
• Inventories par stock for designated nursing units.
• Delivers late trays to patients.
• Retrieves trays from patient care area.
• Cleans and sanitizes assigned work area.
• Scrapes dishes and loads dishes and trays into dishwasher.
• Resets tray line for next meal.
• Works continuously to improve the total quality of the department and other departments within the institution.
• Works under the direction of the lead diet aide and food services supervisor.

Physical Requirements & Environment:

• Thirty-three percent of the time is spent in the dish room scraping trays.
• Noise levels and steam cause high temperatures.
• Damp or wet floors.
• Long periods of time standing.

Pay Range:

$17.00 - $22.88

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geographyof work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
