Job summary

The 673rd Medical Group at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska is seeking a Food Service Worker to perform routine food service and meal preparation tasks. You will deliver meal trays to patients, help set up cafeteria lines, and assist with cash handling under supervision.

About the Position:

This position is located at 673rd Medical Group, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.

• This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.
• A recruitment incentive may be authorized.
• Federal employees in Alaska are currently entitled to receive a 1.49% Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary. This is subject to change.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element)

Ability to do the work of a Food Service Worker without more than normal supervision: The ability to perform common food service and food preparation tasks. Ability to transport/deliver meal trays to patients. Ability to set up cafeteria lines. Ability to enter meal orders in to a computer software program. Work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The work requires the employee to lift items weighing over 80 pounds with assistance; to bend, stoop, push and pull heavy objects; and involves continuous standing, walking and sitting. Must possess good eyesight and coordination for cash register, money handling duties.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Employee performs work in noisy kitchen and dining room areas and is subject to injuries from equipment used. There is exposure to dirt, grease and water in cleaning tasks and exposure to extremes of temperature in bringing supplies from walk-in refrigerators and freezers.
