Job summary

Carver Public Schools – Carver Middle High School in Carver, MA, seeks a part-time Food Service Utility Worker to support lunch service and kitchen operations. The role starts 02 September 2026 and offers 3.75 hours per day at a starting pay of $19.53 per hour.

Duties include stocking, FIFO rotation, heavy lifting, assisting cooks, cashiering, and maintaining cleanliness of the walk-in cooler/freezer. ServSafe certification is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Food Service and light custodial experience preferred, but not necessary.
  • ServSafe Certification is a plus.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

  • Lift up to 50 pounds and perform heavy lifting as required.
  • Check-in and label all orders, rotate stock using FIFO and ensure freshness.
  • Maintain inventory of freezer, stock vending machines and rotate stock can racks.
  • Prepare and deliver catering or function requests as directed by manager.
  • Clean walk-in cooler and freezer weekly and assist with dishwasher duties.
  • Support Staff Dining, including preparation, serving and cashiering.
  • Assist cooks during lunch preparation and other duties assigned by manager.
  • Attend in-service trainings and follow sanitation/safety standards.

Job Description
  • Lift up to 50 pounds - heavy and repetitive lifting is required.
  • Check-in and label all orders received before putting them in stock and assure freshness by rotating stock dates (FIFO);
  • Maintain inventory of freezer, inventory and stock vending machines, and rotate and stock can rack;
  • Prepare (this may involve baking) and deliver catering/function requests as directed by manager;
  • Responsible for heavy cleaning of walk-in cooler and freezer weekly, as well as de-liming the dishwasher;
  • Responsible for all aspects of Staff Dining including but not limited to preparation, serving and cashiering;
  • Assist cooks as needed in lunch preparation and assist in any and all duties assigned by the Manager and/or Director;
  • Attend in-service training sessions as required by Director;
  • Perform all duties following National Restaurant Association standards for sanitation/safety;
  • Walk and stand for duration of work schedule;
  • Work safely and accurately under a deadline;
  • Follow direction and work independently;
  • Work cooperatively with co-workers and contribute to a positive working environment;
  • Safely tolerate exposure to heat, humidity, steam, cooking odors, refrigerator and freezer temperatures, and cleaning solutions;
  • Have fun and display a positive attitude at work.
