Job summary

The County of San Mateo is seeking a Food Service Worker I/II - Extra Help to assist in the preparation, serving, and storage of food at San Mateo Medical Center. This part-time, extra-help position covers variable shifts and may include cashiering and/or serving duties in the cafeteria.

Food Service Worker I is entry level with supervision; Worker II is journey level performing a range of duties under general supervision. Extra-help hours vary by department, with no guaranteed permanent status.

Qualifications

• Food Service Worker II requires 1 year experience in kitchen/food service.
• Ability to assist cooks and prepare meals as directed.
• Must maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas.

Responsibilities

• Assist Cooks in meal preparation.
• Prepare salads, sandwiches, beverages, and simple desserts.
• Serve cafeteria/patient meals and deliver trays as needed.
• Clean kitchen areas, equipment, and dining spaces.
• May operate a delivery truck/van for food and supplies.
