Job summary

LEARN Charter School Network is seeking a Food Services Specialist for the LEARN Washington D.C. campus on Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling. You will oversee daily meal service, ensure a clean, orderly cafeteria, and comply with local, state, and federal food safety regulations.

Responsibilities include serving healthy meals to students, supporting NSLP, planning menus with the Operations Coordinator, maintaining equipment and records, and completing mandatory food service training.

Qualifications

• Certified Food Handler License in DC or ability to obtain quickly.
• 1 year of food service experience (2+ preferred).
• Strong organizational skills and strict food safety adherence.

About the Opportunity

The Food Service Specialist will be responsible for daily operations of the school meal service, supporting our scholars' goals and the high-quality instruction provided at LEARN D.C. This role will ensure compliance with all related local, state, and federal laws regarding food service.

Responsibilities

• Serving healthy meals to students and ensuring a hygienic and well-organized cafeteria.
• Meeting all local, state, and federal requirements for proper food handling, storage, disposal, and sanitation of the cafeteria.
• Assisting with the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).
• Planning and coordinating the menu in conjunction with the Operations Coordinator.
• Maintaining all necessary equipment and records, including point of service requirements as required by federal law
• Obtaining any mandatory training, including food service certification.
• Ensuring adherence to Healthy Schools Act requirements and to any applicable safety requirements.

Education, Training and/or Experience

This position is a great fit if:

To succeed as a Food Services Specialist, you can lift up to 50 pounds, in addition to having good multitasking skills.

You possess proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google applications, databases, and intranet and internet usage, and a working knowledge of nutritional guidelines.
