Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a full-time Food Service Production Worker A (Harrisburg) – Grade 9 to join the campus dining team. Duties include taking orders, dispensing products, operating a register, and preparing items to spec while maintaining safety and cleanliness.

This position supports service excellence and teamwork on site at Penn State Harrisburg. Minimum 3 to 12 months of experience preferred; background checks apply; benefits include a strong package and tuition

Qualifications

3–12 months of effective work experience in food service or a customer-facing role.
Ability to follow portion control, timing, and temperature guidelines.
Basic arithmetic and reading comprehension for orders and receipts.

Responsibilities

Take orders from customers and dispense products following standards.
Suggest items to customers to help sales mix and drive revenue.
Set up, operate, and close the register; handle money and make change.
Prepare items for sale according to established procedures and standards.
Maintain a clean and orderly work and dining area; wash pots and pans as needed.
Assist in stocking, inventory, and notifying management of shortages.
Train and direct part-time staff in unit operations and safety procedures.
Ensure adherence to dress code and unit policies; report equipment issues.
