A vacancy for a full-time Food Services Manager exists within the Administrative Services division of the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU).

Summary Of Position

This position is responsible for all aspects of food service operations/production, year-round, for seventeen facilities that served 216,000 breakfasts and 235,500 lunches during the 2023-24 school year. This includes five cafeterias, one on-site cooking program at the Gordon Early Learning Center, and twelve satellite programs and/or locations. Locations include nine Head Start/Childcare locations, one school for the blind, and the CCIU Changes and SKL locations/programs. This also involves serving meals during summer under the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) for the extended school year (ESY), camps, and/or other programs.

This position is responsible for establishing policies and procedures for the School Nutrition Programs that the Intermediate Unit operates, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and district regulations. This includes adherence to the School Breakfast Program (SBP), National School Lunch Program (NSLP), Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), and USDA guidelines, including commodity election processes and regulations. The role also involves providing leadership for new location services and expanding catering offerings.

This position offers leadership, direction, and support to the Cafeteria Manager and Assistant Food Service Manager, serving as back-up as needed. The base schedule is 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., with potential schedule adjustments to meet organizational needs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Experience with PEARS (NSLP and CACFP), nutritional analysis, teamwork, Point of Service within Primero Edge, and facilitating student reporting for NSLP, CACFP, PDE, and USDA required.
  • Knowledge of regulations related to the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs and CACFP required.
  • Experience using HACCP process control system in all food service aspects required.
  • Valid Driver's License required.

Preferred education/experience levels:

  • Ten or more years of school nutrition program experience.
  • Associates degree or equivalent in food and nutrition or related field, with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition preferred.
  • Registered dietitian with the American Dietetic Association preferred.
  • Over ten years’ experience in K-12 nutrition or food service programs preferred.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge of policies, procedures, and compliance requirements for federal and state nutrition programs, ensuring proper administration across all locations. Support planning, organizing, and directing daily operations, ensuring safety and sanitation standards following HACCP and health department requirements.
  • Create standardized recipes for all cycle menus, meeting nutritional requirements and accommodating dietary needs, while optimizing commodity use and student acceptance. Manage menu entries in PrimeroEdge and ensure nutritional analysis and payment options are accessible via School Café.
  • Operate a fiscally sound program, prepare and audit budgets, apply for federal and state subsidies, and establish pricing for programs and offerings. Participate in purchasing consortia and solicit competitive prices for food, equipment, and supplies.
  • Complete required applications, reports, and claims in PEARS, maintain documentation for audits, and generate monthly reports.
  • Attend and participate in training and professional organizations to stay informed and network. Complete at least 12 hours of professional development annually to meet NSLP requirements.
  • Provide leadership for developing and maintaining full-service catering operations, including support during evenings, weekends, and off-site events as needed.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to develop goals, improve operations, and ensure compliance with student wellness policies. Recommend equipment, technology, and safety improvements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Food Services/Facilities.

2025-2026 Salary

$75,349 to $94,187 annually. Project, Band 15, Exempt.
