Job summary

IKEA Elizabeth, New Jersey, is hiring a Food Service Team Member to ensure operational excellence of IKEA Food. You will prepare and maintain menu items, assist customers, manage stock, and uphold food safety standards.

You will work 34-40 hours per week, Monday through Sunday between 7:00 AM and 10:00 PM, with benefits eligible for eligible co-workers. The role offers competitive pay and opportunities to grow within our global team.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years related experience in a similar role.
• Experience in a high-volume customer-facing environment.
• Experience in a high-volume retail environment with basic merchandising knowledge.
• Food Handler Certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain IKEA Food menu items following the IKEA Food concept and safety standards.
• Assist customers with informed purchases and process sales transactions accurately.
• Maintain equipment and perform preventive and cleaning maintenance.
• Keep dishes, utensils, and cooking tools clean and organized per standards.
• Ensure dining and play areas remain clean and inviting.
• Oversee Swedish Food Market merchandising, pricing, stock rotation and sanitization.
• Communicate price information clearly across all food solutions and boards.
• Ensure FIFO, expiration checks, and sustainability in stock management.
• Adhere to food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety regulations.
• Support a diverse, inclusive IKEA culture with co-workers and customers.

What you'll be doing day to day

As a Food Service Team Member ensuring operational excellence of IKEA Food, you will:

• Prepare and maintain IKEA Food menu items according to the IKEA Food concept. Adhering to food handling, health, and sustainability standards.


• Respond to customer inquiries to support informed purchases and process sales transactions accurately and efficiently, adhering to cash handling policies.


• Maintain equipment operation through adherence to operating guidelines, troubleshooting breakdowns, and conducting preventive and cleaning maintenance.


• Maintain a clean supply of dishes, silverware, cooking utensils, pots, pans, and trays that comply with Food Safety Standards.


• Ensure the cleanliness and organization of dining and play areas.


• Manage the Swedish Food Market by overseeing merchandising, pricing, stock rotation, and the cleaning and sanitization of sampling equipment and areas.


• Ensure accurate and timely price communication across all food solutions, including digital platforms, menu boards, and shelf tags.


• Maintain supply rotation and stocking in all IKEA Food solutions, adhering to First In, First Out (FIFO), expiration dates, and sustainability standards.


• Implements IKEA Food policies and procedures for goods receiving and monthly inventory.


• Adhere to safe food handling, workplace safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations, promptly reporting concerns to managers.


• Contribute to an environment where the IKEA culture is a strong and living reality that embraces the diversity of co-workers and customers.

The hourly pay rate range for this role is $19.91 - $28.12
