Job summary

IKEA Food Service Team Member in New York State is a part-time role (12-20 hours/week) contributing to the IKEA Food concept and guest experience. You will prepare items, handle sales, maintain sanitation, and ensure accurate pricing and FIFO stock control across IKEA Food solutions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain IKEA Food menu items following the concept and safety standards.
• Assist customers with informed purchases and process sales transactions accurately.
• Maintain equipment and perform preventive and cleaning maintenance.
• Keep dishes, utensils, pots and trays clean and organized per standards.
• Ensure dining and play areas are clean and well maintained.
• Oversee merchandising, pricing, stock rotation for Swedish Food Market.
• Communicate prices accurately across all platforms and boards.
• Manage stock rotation and FIFO in all IKEA Food solutions.
• Follow goods receiving procedures and conduct monthly inventory.
• Adhere to food safety, worker safety, and sanitation regulations.
• Support an inclusive IKEA culture through teamwork and respect.

What you'll be doing day to day

As a Food Service Team Member ensuring operational excellence of IKEA Food, you will:

• Prepare and maintain IKEA Food menu items according to the IKEA Food concept. Adhering to food handling, health, and sustainability standards.


• Respond to customer inquiries to support informed purchases and process sales transactions accurately and efficiently, adhering to cash handling policies.


• Maintain equipment operation through adherence to operating guidelines, troubleshooting breakdowns, and conducting preventive and cleaning maintenance.


• Maintain a clean supply of dishes, silverware, cooking utensils, pots, pans, and trays that comply with Food Safety Standards.


• Ensure the cleanliness and organization of dining and play areas.


• Manage the Swedish Food Market by overseeing merchandising, pricing, stock rotation, and the cleaning and sanitization of sampling equipment and areas.


• Ensure accurate and timely price communication across all food solutions, including digital platforms, menu boards, and shelf tags.


• Maintain supply rotation and stocking in all IKEA Food solutions, adhering to First In, First Out (FIFO), expiration dates, and sustainability standards.


• Implements IKEA Food policies and procedures for goods receiving and monthly inventory.


• Adhere to safe food handling, workplace safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations, promptly reporting concerns to managers.


• Contribute to an environment where the IKEA culture is a strong and living reality that embraces the diversity of co-workers and customers.

The hourly pay rate range for this role is $17.58-$24.83

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of equivalent experience working in the food service.


• Experience in a high-volume customer facing environment (restaurant or food service industry preferred.)


• Experience in a high-volume retail environment with knowledge of basic merchandising and selling concepts preferred.


• Food Handler Certification and/or Food Handler Card (as required by local jurisdiction) required within 30 days of employment.

The starting rate/ salary for this position ranges from 17.58 USD to 24.83 USD and will be based on relevant work experience.
