Job summary

Vicksburg Community Schools in Michigan is seeking a dedicated Dishwasher to join our food service team for the 2026-2027 school year. The position runs 9:45am to 1:30pm, Monday through Friday on student days, totaling about 18.75 hours per week.

The role focuses on washing and sanitizing dishes, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting meal service. Candidates should have a high school diploma, ServSafe certification (or willing to obtain), and a reliable attendance record; teamwork and safety

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated individual to add to our food service team as a Dishwasher. This position works 9:45am-1:30pm, Mon-Fri, student days only, approximately 18.75 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Wash and sanitize plates, utensils, pots, pans and trays.
• Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, counters and floors.
• Assist with garbage removal and recycling breakup.
• Help serve meals or stock cafeteria lines when needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, work areas, and serving spaces
• Support meal service and interact positively with students and staff
• Follow all health department and school district regulations
• General kitchen tasks as assigned by the kitchen supervisor and food service director.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must be ServSafe certified; or obtain ServSafe certification within 90 days of hire
• Must have a good attendance record.
• Must possess good decision‑making skills.

• Must have experience in kitchen safety and sanitation.
• Must have a commitment to working as a team to achieve goals.
• Must demonstrate sociability and warmth in attitude toward students, other employees, and the supervisor.
• Must have a moderate level of math skills and be able to operate computerized machines if called upon.
• Must pass background checks and comply with state and district requirements for working with students.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, bend, reach, and move about the building and campus to assist students.
• May require and employee to lift and/or move heavy objects (up to 50lbs).
• May require an employee to stand for extended periods of time.
