Job summary

Great Western Dining Service is seeking a Food Service Director to oversee operations at Ranger College in Ranger, TX. You will plan, organize, and direct daily dining services, ensuring quality nutrition, safety, and compliance with standards.

The ideal candidate has prior Food Service Director experience, excellent leadership and communication skills, and the ability to manage budgets, menus, and staff scheduling in a dynamic hospitality/healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent required.
• College-level courses in food service/management preferred.
• Completion of an approved course in quantity food purchasing, production, service and nutrition preferred.
• Prior experience as a Food Service Director in a hotel, resort, restaurant, or health care setting.
• Ability to follow approved recipes and menus for regular and therapeutic diets.
• Ability to make independent decisions without supervision.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to interact tactfully with residents, staff and general public.
• Ability to communicate directions to all levels of employees, in writing and verbally.
• Proficient with basic software tools.

Responsibilities

• Hire, evaluate, supervise staff and schedule.
• Conduct in-service classes for staff according to a posted schedule.
• Plan, prepare, present and deliver all meals served within the property.
• Maintain budget, inventory and portion controls, and follow budget guidelines.
• Maintain a sanitary work environment and comply with local codes and policies.
• Perform administrative duties such as completing forms, reports and evaluations.
• Maintain a clean and orderly dining room.
• Obtain and maintain Serv Safe/Food Handler's Permit.
• Plan menus according to law and physician orders.
• Order all food within budget and manage inventories.
• Develop culinary procedures to ensure proper temperatures and timely service.
• Engage with students to tailor the program to preferences.
• Arrange coverage during absences; assist in meal preparation when needed.
• Uphold professional image through dress and conduct.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
