Qualifications

Responsibilities

The Department Manager oversees the food service program at a single site, ensuring high food quality standards, inventory management, food safety, and excellent customer service. This role involves adhering to facility menus, federal, state, and local regulations, and HCSG policies to deliver consistent quality dining services.

  • Lead and support the food service team to meet quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of income, expenditures, food supplies, personnel, and equipment using HCSG software.
  • Conduct staff training, quality control, and in-service sessions; perform roles of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher as needed.
  • Communicate directives effectively from client managers, building occupants, and administrators to staff.
  • Ensure safety by using protective gear, handling cleaning solutions properly, and reporting equipment needs or malfunctions.
  • Follow infection control, universal precautions, and handwashing procedures to maintain sanitation.
  • Maintain punctuality and complete tasks timely.
  • Represent HCSG positively through courteous interactions with all stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or higher in food service management, hospitality, or related coursework preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in healthcare food production/service and supervision required.
  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification preferred (or as required by law).
  • Must obtain Food Protection Manager (FPM) certification within 14 days of employment.
  • Must obtain Food Service Manager (FSM) and LTC-FSM certifications within 60 days.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Positive attitude and effective communication skills.
  • Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies.
  • Physical ability to lift, push, and carry up to 50 pounds, and perform extended periods of standing, sitting, and routine tasks.
  • Ability to work around food and cleaning products.
  • Proficient computer skills for record-keeping and reporting.
  • Residency within the service area is required.
