The Monarch at Brooklyn Rehabilitation & Nursing Center is seeking an experienced and motivated Food Service Director to oversee our dietary and food service operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who is passionate about food quality, resident satisfaction, and maintaining high standards in a skilled nursing environment.
Direct the daily operations of the Food Service/Dietary Department.
Lead, train, schedule, and supervise dietary and kitchen staff.
Ensure meals are prepared and served according to resident dietary needs and preferences.
Oversee menus, meal service, portion control, food quality, and presentation.
Work closely with nursing, the Registered Dietitian, and other clinical departments to meet residents’ nutritional needs.
Monitor food inventory, ordering, receiving, storage, and department expenses.
Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, infection prevention, and regulatory requirements.
Ensure proper documentation and adherence to established dietary policies and procedures.
Conduct department inspections and address deficiencies promptly.
Respond to resident and family concerns regarding meals and dining services.
Participate in surveys, audits, quality improvement initiatives, and staff education.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen and dining environment.
Previous experience as a Food Service Director, Dietary Director, or Dietary Manager, preferably in a skilled nursing or healthcare setting.
Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and dietary operations.
Experience supervising and developing staff.
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to manage budgets, inventory, staffing, and multiple priorities.
Knowledge of state and federal healthcare food service regulations preferred.
ServSafe certification or equivalent food safety certification is a plus.
A hands-on, resident-focused approach.
