Responsibilities
The Department Manager oversees the food service program at a single site, ensuring high food quality standards, inventory management, food safety, and customer service. Responsibilities include:
- Leading and supporting the food service team to meet quality and safety standards.
- Maintaining accurate records of income, expenditures, supplies, personnel, and equipment using HCSG software.
- Conducting staff training, quality control, and in-service sessions; performing roles of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher as needed.
- Communicating effectively with client managers, building occupants, and administrators.
- Ensuring safety procedures, proper use of protective gear, and reporting equipment needs.
- Following infection control and sanitation procedures.
- Maintaining punctuality and completing tasks timely.
- Representing HCSG positively through courteous interactions.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or higher in food service management or hospitality (preferred).
- Two years of experience in food production/service and supervision (preferred).
- Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification preferred.
- Must obtain Food Protection Manager (FPM) certification within 14 days of employment.
- Must obtain Food Service Manager (FSM) and Long-Term Care Food Service (LTC-FSM) certifications within 60 days.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to lift/carry and push/pull up to 50 pounds, stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to perform routine tasks around food and cleaning products.
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting.
- Residency within the service area is required.
