FOOD SERVICE COURIER (10-MONTH) NOTICE OF VACANCY

Position Title: Food Service Courier (10 month)

Brief Description: Work involves responsibility for the collection, transportation and delivery of food supplies and equipment within the Ithaca City School District. Food Service Couriers are also responsible for monitoring the operating condition of the vehicle and reporting mechanical defects to the supervisor. When not performing courier duties, the incumbent performs food service tasks including preparing and serving food in school cafeterias, cashiering, and cleaning the kitchen, equipment and utensils. This work is performed under the general supervision of a School Lunch Director or School Lunch Manager. Does related work as required.

Required Qualifications

• Qualified candidates will demonstrate a basic awareness of the district's commitments to eliminate race, class, and disability as predictors of academic performance and show willingness to support these efforts.
• Must be eligible for appointment as a Food Service Courier by Civil Service.
• Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma or less than high school; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
• Must be 18 years of age. Ability to complete tasks independently. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Should have some knowledge of food preparation, presentation methods, techniques and quality standards.
• Cleanliness and following all Health Department Regulations is necessary.

Civil Service Requirements

• Candidates must possess a valid New York State Class D driver's license or equivalent at time of appointment and must obtain a New York State Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) or equivalent within twelve (12) months of appointment. The licenses must be maintained for the duration of employment.

Salary Range: $17.81 per hour in accordance with Collective Bargain Agreement.
