Job summary

Job Title: Food Service Cook

Reports To: Director of Food Services and Head Cook

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Work Days: 176 per school year (Follows student attendance calendar)

Location: Buildings: Location To Be Determined

Hours: 5.75 hours per day (start/end times determined by location assigned)

Pay Schedule Range: $17.21-$23.21 per hour. Placement is based on experience.

Positions: Multiple Positions Available for the 2026-2027 School Year

JOB SUMMARY

This position includes the sanitary preparation and service of nutritious food in an efficient manner to students and staff members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Maintain the serving line.
2. Fill the milk cooler.
3. Notify the supervisor when food, supplies and equipment are needed.
4. Take inventory and rotate stock.
5. Operate dishwasher.
6. Prepare food according to recipes, menus and nutritional requirements.
7. Clean assigned areas.
8. Follow proper sanitation procedures.
9. Make suggestions for improvement to the supervisor.
10. Work cooperatively with others.
11. Other such duties as assigned by the supervisor.
12. Perform other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in food preparation and service preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Ability to follow directions.
• Ability to work with children.
• Ability to work in kitchen and dish room.
• Ability to follow oral or written work orders from supervisor.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.
• Ability to perform work according to standard procedures and schedule set forth by supervisor(s).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Works in school building environments.
• Ability to lift 40 pounds to shoulder level.
• Exposure to cleaning materials and trash.
