Job summary

Dunlap School District #323 in Dunlap, IL is seeking a part-time Cook to assist with the school meal program. The role runs Monday through Friday, 4.5 hours per day, at $16.50 per hour, and reports to the Director of Food Services.

You will help with food preparation, sanitation, handling payments from students and staff, and ensuring compliance with USDA meal reimbursement requirements. The job is non-exempt under FLSA and involves indoor work with some travel between buildings.

Responsibilities

• Performs various duties for food preparation efficiently and timely as assigned by the Head Cook.
• Cleans utensils, equipment and storage, food preparation and serving areas daily for sanitary conditions as assigned by the Head Cook.
• Collects payments daily on food items from students and staff for completing transactions and securing funds.
• Attends training at the start of each school year to monitor students' food choices daily for mandated meal component requirements and USDA reimbursement compliance.
• Complies with all food safety requirements, including wardrobe, handwashing, and hair net requirements.
• Maintains a neat personal appearance and a pleasant demeanor with students, staff and parents.
• Demonstrates teamwork and professional behavior; performs additional duties as assigned.

Reports to: Director of Food Services

Position Objective

The Cook assists in the implementation of the assigned school meal program.

Essential Functions:

• Performs various duties for food preparation efficiently and timely as assigned by the Head Cook
• Cleans utensils, equipment and storage, food preparation and serving areas daily for the purpose of maintaining sanitary conditions, as assigned by the Head Cook
• Collects payments daily on food items from students and staff for the purpose of completing transactions and/or securing funds
• Attends training at the start of each school year to monitor students\' food choices daily for the purpose of meeting mandated meal component requirements and ensuring adequate nutrition for USDA meal reimbursements. Failure to comply could result in loss of reimbursement from the USDA
• Complies with all food safety requirements, including wardrobe, handwashing, and hair net requirements

• Environmental Conditions: The work is performed primarily indoors; however, outside work is required on occasion. Travel between buildings may be a requirement.
