Job description

Position: Food Service Attendant/Service Assistant 1

Duration: 3 Months

Location: Newark, DE

Shifts: Rotating shifts/days - 3:30pm-9:30pm every other weekend and 1 day during the week, 6-8 hours per week

Notes: Sodexo contract - increased cafeteria food volume requires caregivers to assist with food preparation, serving, and sanitation, including filling in for staff on leave and during peak mealtimes.

Department Specific Details: Food prep, serving customers, cashier, utility, pots, sanitation

Responsibilities include: fulfilling sanitation needs, ware washing, pot sink, and utility functions.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

1. Assemble patient meals accurately and efficiently, following menu and portion control standards.
2. Prepare trays for regular and modified diets, differentiating between food types.
3. Operate and maintain food service equipment, including dish machines and sanitation stations, adhering to temperature and sanitation procedures.
4. Maintain sanitation standards, using chemicals properly, cleaning work areas, and disposing of trash appropriately.
5. Comply with safety, health, and regulatory requirements, including infection prevention, proper food storage, and temperature controls.
6. Interact compassionately with patients, families, staff, and physicians, demonstrating empathy and respect.
7. Perform work safely, report hazards, and adhere to departmental safety rules.
