Essential Job Function:

The Fresh Foods Clerk is responsible for managing the deli/food service operations within our stores, maintaining high standards of sanitation, store appearance, and guest service, while adhering to company policies and procedures. This role requires a passion for food and a dedication to excellent guest service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain a positive and friendly attitude towards guests and team members.
• Engage with guests through greetings, product information, sampling, and expressing gratitude.
• Provide fast, friendly, and efficient guest service.
• Handle cash register transactions, including giving change and processing refunds.
• Operate scale printers, ensuring accurate weights and pricing.
• Monitor product pricing, signage, and placement, including shelf tags and signage.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and neat.
• Prepare, wrap, weigh, slice, and stock deli/food service items, rotating stock for quality and safety.
• Prepare and cook deli items such as fried foods, salads, sandwiches, roller grill items, and beverages.
• Work safely around equipment like slicers, ovens, and burners.
• Display products according to department and merchandising guidelines.
• Take guest orders, ensuring timely and satisfactory completion.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Position Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings, and assist other locations as needed.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
• Serv-Safe certification preferred.
• Interest in learning new products and recipes.
• A passion for food and creativity.
• Courteous, helpful, and tactful demeanor.
• Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Basic math skills for transactions and calculations.
• Ability to learn to operate registers, scales, scanners, and payment terminals.
• Read and understand UPC codes, signage, and policies.
• Knowledge of deli ingredients and food preparation.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
• Ability to work with various ingredients and food products.

Physical Requirements:

• Lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
• Reach above shoulder and bend below waist.
• Work in coolers and freezers.
• Stand for long periods, and maneuver merchandise and supplies.
• Use hands dexterously for equipment operation.
