Position Overview: Fresh Foods Clerk

The role of a fresh foods clerk involves managing daily deli/foodservice operations, maintaining high standards of sanitation, store appearance, and customer service, while adhering to company policies. This position requires a passion for food and serving customers.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Providing friendly and positive customer interactions, including greetings, product information, and sampling.
2. Ensuring fast and courteous service.
3. Handling cash register transactions, refunds, and giving change.
4. Using scale printers correctly for pricing and weights.
5. Monitoring product pricing, signage, and placement.
6. Maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the check stand and work areas.
7. Preparing, wrapping, boxing, weighing, slicing, and stocking deli/food products, rotating stock for quality and safety.
8. Cooking and preparing deli items like fried foods, salads, sandwiches, roller grill items, and beverages.
9. Working safely with equipment such as slicers, ovens, and burners.
10. Displaying products per merchandising guidelines.
11. Taking and fulfilling customer orders timely and satisfactorily.
12. Performing other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings, and assist other locations.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
• Serv-Safe certification preferred.
• Passion for food and creativity.
• Courteous and helpful attitude at all times.
• Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Basic math skills and familiarity with register and scale operation.
• Ability to read product labels, signage, and codes.
• Willingness to learn about deli products and ingredients.
• Effective communication skills.
• Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs, reach, bend, work in coolers, and stand for long periods.
