Job summary

MaineGeneral Health is seeking a Food Service Associate to join our Culinary Services team. You’ll work at the Pizza Station preparing and serving food to patients, visitors, staff, and others, with weekend shifts at the Deli Station.

You’ll gain skills in food prep, safety, and customer service in a hospital setting. This is a full-time role with a 40-hour work week and a pay range of $16.50–$28.88 per hour, plus eligibility for additional compensation differentials and a comprehensive benefits

Responsibilities

Job Description

This is a cafeteria retail position with a primary assignment at our Pizza Station, where you'll help prepare and serve food to patients, visitors, staff, and other customers. On scheduled weekends, you'll work at our Deli Station alongside the rest of the team.

Hours:

Pizza Station (9:00am - 5:30pm) weekdays, and every other weekend Deli Station (8:30am - 5:00pm)

What You'll Do

• Prepare and serve food and beverages at the Pizza Station while following standardized recipes, food safety procedures, and established preparation guidelines.
• Assist with pizza production, including food preparation, cooking, portioning, stocking, and maintaining appropriate food levels throughout the shift.
• Provide friendly, efficient customer service to staff, visitors, patients, and other customers.
• Work at the Deli Station on scheduled weekends, assisting with food preparation, sandwich and deli item production, stocking, and customer service.
• Operate a cash register and accurately process customer transactions as assigned.
• Keep food service areas, equipment, counters, and workstations clean, organized, and properly stocked.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, HACCP, and infection prevention standards and procedures.
• Store food, beverages, and supplies properly according to department policies and procedures.
• Assist with dishwashing, cleaning, restocking, catering, and other food service duties as needed.
• Work cooperatively with coworkers and supervisors to keep the cafeteria running smoothly, especially during busy periods.
• Help create a welcoming environment by treating customers and coworkers with respect and maintaining a positive attitude.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the Culinary Services team.

Compensation Information

$16.50 - $28.88

The hourly pay range shown represents the base pay range for this position. Individual pay is determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, skills, and market considerations. In addition to base pay, eligible team members may earn additional compensation through shift, weekend, holiday, on-call, and other applicable differentials.
