Position Overview: Fresh Foods Clerk

The fresh foods clerk manages daily operations of the store's deli/foodservice section, ensuring high standards of sanitation, store appearance, and customer service while adhering to company policies. A passion for food and serving customers is essential!

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Maintaining a positive attitude towards customers and team members.
• Engaging with customers through greetings, offering product information, and sampling, always expressing gratitude.
• Providing fast, friendly customer service.
• Processing transactions accurately, including giving change and handling refunds.
• Using scale printers correctly to ensure proper weights and pricing.
• Monitoring product pricing, signage, and placement, including shelf tags and signage.
• Keeping the work area clean, organized, and presentable.
• Preparing, wrapping, boxing, weighing, slicing, and stocking deli/foodservice items, rotating stock for quality and safety.
• Cooking and preparing deli items like fried foods, salads, sandwiches, roller grill items, and beverages.
• Working safely with equipment such as slicers, ovens, and burners.
• Displaying products according to department and merchandising guidelines.
• Taking and fulfilling customer orders promptly and satisfactorily.
• Performing other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings; willing to assist other locations.
• Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
• Serv-Safe certification preferred.
• Interest in learning new products and recipes.
• A love of food and creativity.
• Courteous, helpful, and tactful demeanor.
• Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Basic math skills for transactions.
• Willingness to learn to operate registers, scales, scanners, and terminals.
• Ability to read UPC codes, labels, signage, and policies.
• Knowledge of deli ingredients and products.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
• Ability to handle ingredients and equipment safely and skillfully.

Physical Requirements:

• Lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
• Reaching, bending, and working in coolers and freezers.
• Stand for long periods, and maneuver merchandise and supplies.
• Dexterity to use knives, slicers, ovens, and fryers.
