Job description

The Food Services Associate is responsible for assisting the Food Service leadership team in implementing a world-class quality food service program. This position involves participating in the daily production and serving of food for patients, staff, and visitors in various dining areas, including serving meals from a cafeteria-style line, operating a cash register, preparing food items on a griddle and/or fryer, assembling ingredients for hot and cold food items, setting up and restocking serving areas, cleaning assigned areas, assembling and delivering nourishments, and washing dishes and pots and pans.

Salary Range: $18.50 - $26.64 per hour based on experience

This is a per-diem position.

Position Requirements:

• Licensure/Certification/Registrations: None
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: Cashier and/or computer experience preferred. 1-3 years of food service experience preferred.
• Skills & Abilities: Strong written and verbal communication skills required. Ability to read and write in English and perform basic arithmetic calculations. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build cooperative working relationships with staff, patients, families, and visitors are required. Ability to work as part of a team, adhere to safety standards, and demonstrate exceptional customer service and effective interaction with all stakeholders.

Essential Functions:

• Prepare and set up the serving area for meal service, including various stations and supplies. Restock all food and supplies as needed during and after service.
• Batch cook grill and fryer items to ensure quality and reduce waste.
• Serve meals to patients, staff, and visitors, accommodating special requests when possible.
• Assist patients during meal service, including helping with difficult-to-reach items, opening cartons, and cutting meat.
• Operate the cash register accurately, process transactions, and manage the cash drawer following departmental procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the service area, including cleaning tables, equipment, and food preparation surfaces.
• Prepare ingredients for cold and hot food items, including washing, cutting, and assembling ingredients, and operating food preparation equipment.
• Prepare desserts attractively and ensure they are ready for service.
• Make and deliver patient nourishments and snacks, and manage nursing supply inventory and deliveries.
