Position Overview: Fresh Foods Clerk

The Fresh Foods Clerk is responsible for the daily operations of our store's deli/foodservice, ensuring high standards of sanitation, store appearance, and customer service, while adhering to company policies and procedures. A passion for food and serving customers is essential!

Responsibilities

1. Maintain a positive and friendly attitude towards customers and team members.
2. Engage with customers through greetings, product information, sampling, and thank-yous.
3. Provide fast and friendly customer service.
4. Process transactions accurately at the register, including giving change and handling refunds.
5. Use scale printers to ensure correct weights and pricing.
6. Monitor product pricing, signage, and placement, including shelf tags and signage.
7. Keep the check stand and work areas clean and organized.
8. Prepare, wrap, weigh, slice, and stock deli/foodservice products, rotating stock as needed for quality and safety.
9. Prepare and cook deli/foodservice items such as fried foods, salads, sandwiches, roller grill items, beverages, and prepared meals.
10. Work safely around equipment like slicers, ovens, and burners.
11. Display products according to merchandising guidelines.
12. Take customer orders, ensuring timely and satisfactory completion.
13. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
14. Meet minimum qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent, at least 18 years old, flexible to work weekends, holidays, and evenings, reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and preferred Serv-Safe certification.
15. Demonstrate a love of food, creativity, helpfulness, efficiency, and good communication skills.
16. Perform basic math and learn to operate registers, scales, scanners, and payment terminals.
17. Understand product ingredients, labels, signage, and store policies.
18. Work physically to lift up to 25 lbs, reach, bend, work in coolers/freezers, and stand for long periods.
