Responsibilities

• Monitor students during lunch and recess to ensure their safety and appropriate behavior.
• Enforce school rules and policies to maintain a respectful and orderly environment.
• Address behavioral issues promptly and report them to the appropriate school staff.
• Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere where all students feel safe and respected.
• Encourage positive social interactions among students and help mediate conflicts when necessary.
• Assist students with any needs or issues that arise during breakfast, lunch and recess.
• Ensure all playground and cafeteria areas are safe and free of hazards.
• Provide basic first aid when necessary and report any injuries to school administration.

Job Title: Food Service Assistant

Location: Ascent Classical Academy of Grand Junction (ACAGJ)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Headmaster

Work Hours/Days: M-F, Typical School days, and some professional development days. 2 days that are from 6a-1:30p with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break, and 3 days from 9a-2pm. Work site calendar to be provided. Can discuss other schedule possiblities during interview, if needed.

Essential Functions:

Supervision:

• Monitor students during lunch and recess to ensure their safety and appropriate behavior

• Supports the tracking of students participating in the breakfast and lunch program.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
• Must be able to traverse the classroom and the school
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, or standing
• Must be able to supervise outdoor recess
