TrulyHired seeks a Food Service Assistant to help with the student nutrition program. This role includes food preparation, cleaning, and supporting kitchen staff in various schools. Location: Roaming position; could potentially be at a different building each day
Reports To: Kitchen Manager, Food Service Director and/or Principal/Assistant Principal
Hours: 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (15 hrs/wk; 3 hrs/day)
Status: Ten (10) month position
First day of school for students - Last day of school for students
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
The Food Service Substitute provides support in our student nutrition program by assisting other Food Service Assistants, the Kitchen Manager and the Food Service Supervisor in the overall management and organization of the food service program while providing excellent customer service to staff, students and families.
High school diploma (or equivalent); must pass a basic math skills test.
The employee is regularly required to coordinate hands, eyes, feet and limbs in performing semi-skilled movements such as cooking, washing dishes and operating a computer keyboard, cash register, and telephone. The employee is required to be on their feet walking around the cafeteria and food service department building for several hours at a time. The employee is required to exert physical effort in work involving lifting, carrying, pushing, walking, standing, reaching with hands and arms, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds from floor to waist height. Required vision includes close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
The work environment is moderately loud, usually indoors with controlled climate conditions. Employee may be required to be outdoors for a short period, subject to varying weather conditions, for the purposes of accomplishing essential functions. This position requires the employee to work in different building cafeterias and food service departments as needed and requires travel by employee's automobile between buildings.
