Browning Public Schools is seeking Assistant Cooks for the Food Services Department with 4 openings available. These positions are full-time, 187-day commitments requiring 8 hours per day. Applicants must be a high school graduate or GED and pass background checks.

Food Services Department, 187-day positions, eight (8) hours per day. All positions are under Classified Labor Agreement. Supervised by Food Services/Warehouse Director, but works under and is directed by Head Cook on a day-to-day basis.
High school graduate or GED (must submit copy of diploma or certificate with application or certificate of enrollment in GED program.) Must have clean criminal record (no felony or multiple misdemeanors).
Assists the Head Cook in serving students and staff; prepares and cooks food; prepares dining and serving areas; cleans kitchen equipment, sweeps and mops floors; assists in planning daily work schedules. Other duties as assigned.
Required: Minimum one year experience in food services field; knowledge of and experience in food preparation, especially large quantities; physical ability to stand and exert at least 50 pounds force in lifting, carrying, etc. Preferred: Previous food preparation experience in a school/institutional setting. Hourly rate per Classified scale: Assistant Cooks 2026-2027, Lane 1, starting at $18.85 (up to $20.47 DOE after successful completion of a 90 day-probationary period).
Per Classified agreement; currently includes retirement, paid health insurance, and annual and sick leave (following waiting period).
