Job summary

Charlotte County Public Schools is seeking a Food Service Assistant for Port Charlotte High 7151. The role is available immediately with duties spanning daily kitchen operations, recipe adjustments, and serving meals to students.

Salary is $17.50 per hour and includes standard benefits as part of the district package. Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent and ServSafe certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma: high school or equivalent preferred.
• Certification: ServSafe certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Increases or decreases recipe yield and implements adjustment upon manager’s approval.
• Reviews weekly menu and adjusts recipes to appropriate yield; pulls food from freezer to thaw and prep work.
• Notifies manager of anticipated ingredient or product needs for timely ordering.
• Implements food service policies and regulations.
• Understands and correctly implements USDA Offer vs. Serve Policy.
• Learns and follows safe and sanitary procedures.
• Adheres to HACCP standards re: food safety temperatures.
• Maintains safe use and care of equipment, selecting appropriate equipment.
• Demonstrates mastery of kitchen weights and measures.
• Keeps kitchen and facility clean and orderly; sanitizes work surfaces; washes trays, pots and pans; sweeps and mops floors.
• Ensures daily cleanliness of equipment and assigned areas.
• Completes tasks within allotted time and at set speed.
• Uses standardized methods to prepare quality food in quantity.
• Merchandises food appealingly and minimizes waste.
• Reports food usage for production plans and inventory tracer.
• Stores leftovers safely.
