Performs tasks related to the preparation and service of food, including delivery, collection of food and supplies, operation of machinery, and sanitation of specific areas within the department.

Job Responsibilities

1. Prepares and serves food to patients as assigned, following guidelines or tallies.
2. Transports food and supplies within the hospital or cafeteria, handling food according to sanitary regulations.
3. Delivers food trays, nourishment, and supplies in an organized and timely manner; serves food accurately according to requests.
4. Collects used carts or trays and returns them to the kitchen.
5. Operates machines used in food preparation or sanitation, maintaining safety and efficiency; ensures sufficient supplies are available.
6. Uses utensils properly, maintains cleanliness of work areas.
7. Mops floors, cleans equipment, utensils, and work areas using appropriate detergents and germicides.
8. Refrigerates and labels perishable foods; stores supplies systematically.
9. Sorts silverware for washing, cleans, and polishes stainless steel equipment; may perform environmental services.
10. Performs related duties as required, considering all responsibilities as essential functions under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
